I wish I had a manager. I want none of the photographing, recording, pricing, marketing. I want only to paint! paint! paint! The process feels simply magical. What what happens in my head and what happens to the surface of a canvas — the colors, the spaces, the shapes that emerge while I work — astonish me. It’s not that I’m completely unconscious of what I’m doing at any moment, but I often feel like I’m entering into a vast region of unexplored territory when I stroke a brush. It’s like I’m on a Louis and Clark expedition, creeping up the Missouri River not knowing what’s ahead and improvising as I move. Hah!
